Screen Gems has nabbed Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard to star along with James Marsden in “Straw Dogs,” a reimagining, remake, reboot, reinterpretation of Sam Peckinpah’s 1971 film.
Variety reports that Rod Lurie will direct his own script in which a Hollywood screenwriter relocates with his wife to her hometown in Mississippi so he can have a quiet place to concentrate on finishing his script. Marsden will take the lead with Bosworth playing his wife and Skarsgard playing her high school boyfriend.
Bosworth is most well known for her turns as Lois Lane love in “Superman Returns” and an accomplice in the MIT infiltration of Las Vegas in “21.”
Skarsgard currently stars as vampire Eric Northman in HBO’s “True Blood.”
Marc Frydman will produce with Lurie under their banner Battleplan Productions.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in August.
