I actually have 2 favorite spy thrillers: “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold”-another John Le Carre novel- made into a very chilling film; Richard Burton stars in this lean, intimate, raw, edgy “double-agent”-double-cross story, stunning black and white cinematography captures the mood of the Cold War, full of intrigue, intimacy, and great characters. You never know what will happen next. The “nothing-is-as it-seems”-essence of a great spy novel is
captured superbly in this Le Carre novel   2) “Eye of the Needle”- a page turner WWII spy story pitting an unhappily married British couple against a seasoned Nazi spy who washes ashore near their remote cottage on the coast. A love triangle magnifies the intensity of this thrilling deception when the wife begins an affair with the cunning and manipulating spy in her own home. Gripping in revelations and cliff-hanging turns of near-detection, the amazing climax brings a balance of action and emotion. The film starred Donald Sutherland– one of his best.   Barbara Davis, Zephyr Productions

Thanks for the opportunity to be able to participate in the ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ prize pack contest! I have submitted my entry on your Facebook wall, under the contest post. Again, thanks!

  • Frank Pierce

My favorite spy thriller has always been From Russia With Love. It’s the best of the Bond series by far. The setting in Turkey, the Orient Express, the back-stabbing, this movie just has it ALL! Also it reminds me of my childhood. I used to watch this movie about once a month with my dad. It was his all time favorite movie.

  • Kathleen Downes

My favorite spy thriller is North by Northwest. Alfred Hitchcock was a master at suspense and this was one of his best films. Cary Grant is mistaken by enemy spies as a US undercover agent and is chased across the US. My favorite scene is on top of Mount Rushmore. It’s so suspenseful and just a classic movie.

“Three days of the condor” because that movie was well ahead of its time, and I hear it’s being remade…

    im a facebook fan

  • Asher Grossman

“Mission: Impossible” is my favorite spy thriller of all time. It was back when Tom Cruise was awesome instead of crazy, and the plot is just so insane and intricate you really felt like you were in the mix with everyone else. I think spy thrillers should be confusing and that one takes the cake!

  • Steven Wenzel

I really liked No Way Out with Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman because of the twists.

  • Hayley

My favorite spy movie would have to be Alfred Hitchock’s ‘Notorious.” Ingrid Bergman is perfect in her role as a reluctant spy. This movie has a little bit of everything- thrills, romance, drama, humor. The chemistry between Bergman and Cary Grant is electric. Claude Rains plays his part well as usual, and the sweeping camera angles and music just add to the overall feel. I could watch this one over and over.

  • shanaprize

    i like the bond movies b/c they’re action-packed

  • Hugh Partridge

I read Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy 30 years ago and it has remained one of my favorite spy thrillers.  I love the amount of detail with which John
Le Carre wrote.  I’ve never been a spy, so I’m only guessing, but I feel it was more realistic than many other works in the genre. I don’t think people involved in the world of espionage would go around blowing things up and shooting at each other all the time.

  • Socialjag

Salt is my favorite spy thriller

  • Donna L

    I like the movie “  Inception “.

  • Mike S

My favorite spy thriller is Mr. and Mrs. Smith because it combines humor with spy tactics in a wonderfully produced action packed movie.  Brad and Angelina make a great pair on screen.

  • Kathryn C

My favorite spy thriller is the made-for-tv movie *Sword of Gideon* which is based on Israel’s counteractions against the terrorists responsible for the  tragedy at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich.  It is an edge-of-your seat film which takes me on a heart-stopping cat & mouse chase through several cities in Europe.  I love the camaraderie between the team members assigned to this task of avenging Israel. Great cast of actors!  Not to be missed- You may have seen the remake  *Munich* but in my opinion, it is not as good as the original Sword of Gideon

  • Jj chapon

For me its “Three Days Of The Condor”. To see how spies turn on each other to protect agendas.

  • Kelly Krie

John Grisham’s The Broker.  By the end I  loved this guy.

  • Dan

My favorites are Casino Royale(with Daniel Craig) and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

  • Donna W.

My favorite spy movie is The Russia House starring Sean Connery and Michelle Pfeiffer. My fondness for spy novels started as a young girl with Nancy Drew Books. Then I grew up into a strong James Bond fan with Sean Connery being my favorite Bond.  His acting in The Russia House was supberb and the story line was interesting and not predictable, even though a little hard to follow, which kept me paying close attention the entire 2 hours.  And it had some romance thrown in and a happy ending.  Entertainment value – priceless!
