Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker have joined the cast of “Cloudburst,” Sidney Kimmel Entertainment’s road-trip comedy to be written and directed by Thom Fitzgerald, reports Variety.

Sidney Kimmel Entertainment is the primary financier and Fitzgerald will produce with Doug Pettigrew while William Jarblum executive produces.

Shooting is scheduled to begin this month in Nova Scotia.

The narrative of “Cloudburst” centers on “…two women who have lived as lovers for 30 years and decide to break out of the nursing facility where one of them has been committed.”

Dukakis’ most recent role was in “Away From Her” with Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent.

Fricker recently starred in Richard Attenborough’s “Closing the Ring” along with Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer.
