Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison will round out the cast of Miramax’s supernatural thriller, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” which is also set to star Katie Holmes, according to The Hollywood Reporter
Mark Johnson and Guillermo del Toro will produce with del Toro’s protege, Troy Nixey, directing.
The film is based on a 1973 ABC TV movie about “a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with demonic creatures.”
Madison will play the girl with Pearce playing her skeptical father.
Del Toro and Matthew Robbins penned the script.
Del Toro is currently in New Zealand working on “The Hobbit.” “Dark” is set begin production next month in Melbourne, Australia.
Madison, notable for her role in the children’s fantasy, “Bridge to Terabithia,” will next appears in Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers” alongside Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman.
