Variety reports that Don Payne penned the most recent draft of the script about the alien bounty hunter, and Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona will produce the flick via their respective Silver Pictures and Weed Road banners.

The character debuted in the 1983 comic, “Omega Men,” written by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and has seen many transformations.  The film version of the character will be a muscle-bound, indestructible, blue-skinned, 7-foot-tall alien who rides a tricked-out motorcycle and comes to Earth searching for fugitives.

Warners is aiming for a PG-13 rating for the heavily visual effects oriented flick.

Steve Richards and Kerry Foster will exec produce.

Production on “Lobo” will begin in early 2010.
