The upcoming Jodie Foster-directed flick, “The Beaver,” has just added heavy-hitter Mel Gibson to the cast, according to Variety.
Foster will direct and star with Gibson in the Kyle Killen script that follows a depressed man who finds comfort in wearing a beaver hand-puppet.
The last time the two stars appeared on screen together was in 1994′s “Maverick.”
Steve Golin and Keith Redmon of Anonymous Content will produce and are pushing for production to begin in New York in September.
Other star and director combos for the project had been considered including Steve Carell and Jay Roach.
The pic wall mark Foster’s third foray into directing after 1991′s “Little Man Tate” and 1995′s “Home for the Holidays.”
