Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Edwin Hodge have just signed on to help the Wolverines fight, presumably either the Chinese or the Russians, or both, in MGM/UA’s remake of the Patrick Swayze semi-classic, “Red Dawn.”
They join Captain Kirk’s dad, Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, and Adrianne Palicki in the remake of the 1984 action vehicle that saw a group of refugee teenagers form a resistance against invading Soviet and Cuban troops.
THR reports that Hutcherson will play Robert, the C. Thomas Howell character, and become the group’s techie-nerd. Lucas will play head cheerleader, Erica. Cruise will play Daryl, the son of Spokane’s mayor and the best friend of Robert. And last but certainly not least, Hodge will play Danny, the school’s most popular student who spearheads the forming of the resistance.
Dan Bradley will direct, Jeremy Passmore and Carl Ellsworth have penned the script, and Contrafilm’s Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson will produce.
Shooting is scheduled to begin next month and is slated for a Sept. 24, 2010 release.
