Nicolas Cage has stepped out of his villainous role in Michel Gondry’s revitalization of the classic property, “The Green Hornet.”

The Heat Vision Blog reports that Cage was slated to play the villain in Columbia’s action blockbuster, but the star and studio failed to agree on the terms of the deal.

Columbia is now thought to be on the lookout for a new baddy to fill the Cage-man’s shoes.

Principal photography began on the picture just last week in Los Angeles.  And no scenes featuring Cage had been shot.

The film’s existing cast consists of Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Jay Chou.
