Adam Goodman, Paramount’s newly minted President, has made the action-comedy pitch “License to Steal” his first major acquisition, paying seven figures upfront for it, according to Variety.
Shane Salerno will loosely model the script after the concept of high-end repo agents who travel the world to reclaim pricey toys explored in Marc Weingarten’s Salon.com article.
Par and David Ellison’s Skydance joined in the purchase with Skydance in talks to possibly co-finace the project.
High profile writing tandem, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Star Trek”), will produce.
The duo also exec produced Disney’s romantic comedy “The Proposal,” which placed No. 2 behind “Transformers” at the weekend box office effectively dominated the box office for several months and in multiple capacities.
