Rumors have been relentlessly circulating for some time now that a sequel to Disney/Pixar’s mega-hit, “Monster, Inc.” is lurking in the bowels of the Emeryville-based animation studio.  Some execs of have denied it, others haven’t ruled that possibility out.  But some new evidence that pre-production may be further along than anticipated has just surfaced.

Web marketing through official domains for movies is an integral part of the promotion process, and when studios decide to get serious about a project, one of the first things they do is register a new domain.  For example, Jim Hill Media just reported that Disney just registered the domains, BEVERLYHILLSCHIHUAHUATWO.COM and CHIHUAHUA2.COM.  Less than a week later the California Film Commission named the “Chihuahua” sequel as a title that would be receiving a tax credit, basically meaning that the film is going to get made.

The reason this is significant is that just yesterday, Disney registered the domain, MONSTERS2.COM.

Of course no official announcement has been made and this information should be taken as rumor until that happens, but it is a possible indicator that we haven’t seen the last of Sulley and Mike.
