Ridley Scott attends Toronto International Film FestivalRidley Scott is after Angelina Jolie to play the role of Patrizia Reggiano, the femme fatale sentenced to 29 years in prison for orchestrating the murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci in “Gucci,” a drama about the gluttonous luxury of the Gucci fashion empire, reports Variety.

The flick is a Fox 2000 production headed by Elizabeth Gabler and Carla Hacken, along with Scott Free and Giannina Facio, and is slated for production in 2010.

The narrative will chronicle the rise and fall of the Gucci dynasty from its emergence as a fashion powerhouse selling half a billion dollars in product in the 1970s and 80s to its decline and darkest hour in 1995 when Maurizio was shot to death in Milan.

The studio is currently on the lookout for a scribe to rewrite the existing draft.

Casting is far from complete and Scott is still looking for someone to fill the imported leather shoes of Gucci himself.  Leonardo DiCaprio, who anchored Scott’s “Body of Lies,” has been approached for the role but has yet to indicate his level of interest.
