Variety reports that shooting will begin in Rome on Aug. 17 on the Richard J. Lewis-directed, Michael Konyves screenplay. The script is based on the novel by Mordecai Richler.

Barney has led a less than perfect life. He’s been married three times, has two kids, and has been labeled a “person of interest” in the mysterious disappearance of his good friend. Speedman will play the friend and Greenwood will play Barney’s rival in love.

Serendipity Point Films and Italy’s Fandango will take on production with co-producers Lyse Lafontaine, Domenico Procacci and Ari Lantos. Mark Musselman is exec producing.
