“This is the first movie we’ve had that’s right on the bubble,” DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg told THR Tuesday.

“We want to talk to people that are on the ground,” he said. “To get in sort of casual headline conversation can be misleading, so we’re taking the opportunity to be face to face with people and have in-depth conversations.”

“Monsters” has grossed over $370 million worldwide at the boxoffice, and $198 million coming in domestically.

“Domestically it has performed at a level that would surely qualify it as a sequel, and internationally it did not,” he said.

Although the film is on the bubble for a sequel Katzenburg hasn’t taken its franchise potential off the table just yet with “Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space” coming to NBC.
