It appears a couple of high-profile, Hollywood A-listers are following Jack White’s example when he sang, “I’m goin’ to Wichita…”

Tom Cruise is set to join Cameron Diaz in 20th Century Fox’s action comedy “Wichita,” reports Variety.

James Mangold will direct the Scott Frank, Laeta Kalogridis script that has already been approved by both stars.

Sources said that the studio is shooting for a summer 2010 release.

Cruise will take on the role of a secret agent who is intermittently involved in the life of a single woman.

Cruise and Diaz also worked together in the 2001 Cameron Crowe sci-fi thriller, “Vanilla Sky.”

Being from Wichita I was naturally curious as to the origins of the title, but have so far been unsuccessful in finding any satisfactory answers.
