Director Wim Wenders has halted production on was what to be the first ever dance film shot entirely in 3D, “Pina,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wenders’ decision comes in the wake of the sudden death on Tuesday of the film’s subject, legendary choreographer Pina Bausch, who is credited with having revolutionized modern dance.
Bausch had been preparing the project with Wenders.
Wenders’ production company Neue Road Movies said all pre-production work on the film had been halted, and after the mourning period the company will, with Bausch’s dance company in Wuppertal, decide whether or not to proceed with the project, and if so, how to do so.
